An excerpt from my upcoming novel Sleep was published today in the Dawn as part of its Pakistan: 70 + 70 special issue. We were asked to envision what Pakistani might look like seventy years into the future, and while my novel’s set in a wider territory than Pakistan, Karachi (known as Kolachi in the novel) features in it as the place where one of the characters goes to medical school.
You can read it here. Sleep will be published next year by Delphinium Books and distributed by HarperCollins.
Fellow writer Shandana Minhas also has a short story called A Pakistani Homecoming – it’s a great read. The illustrations for all the stories in the edition are by Omar Gilani. His future visions of Lahore are simply amazing. Check out his work here.
